MATHEMATICS IN KINDERGARTEN

Ten frames are an amazing tool used to help understand counting, place value, adding, subtracting, and more.

UNIT UPDATE:

We have been having very interesting conversations in class and the students have shown curiosity and asking questions about the weather and how the seasons change.

NIGHT AND DAY:
How does the weather change during the day and how does it affect our daily lives like what we wear and how the weather makes us feel.

Thank you for a wonderful Mother's Day celebration and for everyone that made it special!

The meaning of this wall is for the students to show their findings, questions and explorations during this unit and share it with everyone. This gives them the opportunity to be enquirers and to build in their confidence.

Quick update of our new unit and what we have been up to in EY2S:

During this unit the students will inquire…..
Throughout the unit the students will use their senses to assist and guide them in their learning. They will be observing and interacting with the world around them to explore their senses and to gather data and information that they will need to share back to class. They will be doing experiments inside and outside involving smelling, hearing, tasting, seeing and touching.

The Popcorn Challenge

  • Blindfold students
  • Start making  popcorn
  • Ask questions like: “What did you hear?”
  • “What is it like not seeing what is happening around you?”
  • “What does it sound/taste/smell/feel like?”
  • Game: Guess the flavour by smelling the popcorn

REMINDER

Swimming will be every Monday and Wednesday.
Please bring swimming costume, swimming cap, goggles, towel and flip flops to wear to swimming.

It will also be easier for the children if they wear clothes on that day that is easy for them to dress and undress themselves.
